Background

From day one schooling at Foxwood Kennels in County Tipperary Jon Jo showed huge promise and within four 4 races he was open class. While being prepared to take on Ireland’s best dogs at Shelbourne Park, herecorded 28.10 – a sensational time for his first look at Dublin venue – this sparked instant interest in the dog.

UK Move

Jon Jo was purchased by the THE BOCKOS couple of Graham Box and Bev Lochead, renound for only buying the very best dogs. The purchase was on condition the return home to Ireland after his racing days. While under the care of top trainer Patrick Janssens, Jon Jo quickly established himself as one of the fastest dogs in the UK. Highlights of his successful UK racking career included:

Breaking a track record in Towcester
Second in the Yarmouth Derby

His trademark drive and determination around the first bend in Romford made him a favourite with the punters while clocking times rarely seen at the venue.

Retirement

In November 2021 Jon Joe suffered a career-ending injury (broken hock). With no expense spared by Graham and Bev, he was operated on and the top class aftercare he received from Team Janssens, it wasn’t long before he was enjoying his retirement galloping around the rural Tipperary fields again.
